Farm Projects
Across our farm, we deliver practical, future-focused projects that combine sustainable farming, habitat creation, carbon reduction and nature recovery. From field trials to landscape initiatives, each project is designed to create measurable environmental gains while supporting resilient, productive land use.

Ag Zero+ and Sustainable Farming Trials
We have been proudly working alongside UKCEH and Fen Group to convert a piece of our land to conduct the AgZero+ Paludiculture research program.
Paludiculture, the cultivation of crops on wetland (peatland) areas, is beneficial for UK farming due to its environmental, economic and climate resilience advantages. The hope is this innovative farming method will help sequester carbon, conserve biodiversity and improve water management, addressing crucial environmental challenges that UK farming faces.
The trials on wasted peat are understanding:
- GHG emissions and CO2 capture
- Biodiversity
- Water quality and flood storage
- Phosphate & Nitrate removal
- Food and biomass crops grown on a raised water table
In 2025 we successfully grew the UK'S first rice crop which gained us national and international attention. We now look to build on this success further by expanding and applying our research to new crops in a commercial operation.
Biodiversity Net Gain Habitat Bank
We started habitat creation in 2023 by digging ponds in low lying areas, sowing a species rich grassland and planting hedgerows.
A true labour of love, but it has been a pleasure to watch as the land took on a whole new lease of life and hummed with birds, insects, bats and mammals. The use of technology from the beginning proved a low baseline and has tracked the uplift in biodiversity as the habitat has progressed, surprising us with some of the species that now visit the fields.
Inspired by what we have achieved, we have added a Traditional Orchard with local heritage varieties to our offering and have plans for community involvement with processing future apple crops, creating a local food for local people.
Ouse Washes Landscape Recovery
An ambitious farmer led project with a vision to help maintain internationally important wildlife populations in the Fens.
Through creation of additional wetlands adjacent to the Ouse Washes SSSI alongside fen edge habitat and sustainable farming, the collaboration of farmers and eNGO's delivers for business and nature.
